چکیده
We introduce several modifications of conic fitting in Geometric algebra for conics by incorporating additional conditions into the optimisation problem. Each these extra ensure geometric properties a fitted conic, particular, centre point position at origin coordinate system, axial alignment with axes, or, eventually, combination both. All derived algorithms are accompanied discussion underlying and computational issues. Finally, we present examples use on sample dataset offer possible applications algorithms.

Conic Fitting Using the Geometric Distance
We consider the problem of fitting a conic to a set of 2D points. It is commonly agreed that minimizing geometrical error, i.e. the sum of squared distances between the points and the conic, is better than using an algebraic error measure. However, most existing methods rely on algebraic error measures. This is usually motivated by the fact that pointto-conic distances are difficult to compute ...
متن کاملConic Sections and Meet Intersections in Geometric Algebra
This paper first gives a brief overview over some interesting descriptions of conic sections, showing formulations in the three geometric algebras of Euclidean spaces, projective spaces, and the conformal model of Euclidean space. Second the conformal model descriptions of a subset of conic sections are listed in parametrizations specific for the use in the main part of the paper. In the third ...
متن کاملFitting conics to paracatadioptric projections of lines
The paracatadioptric camera is one of the most popular panoramic systems currently available in the market. It provides a wide field of view by combining a parabolic shaped mirror with a camera inducing an orthographic projection. Previous work proved that the paracatadioptric projection of a line is a conic curve, and that the sensor can be fully calibrated from the image of three or more line...
متن کاملGeometric Structure Computation from Conics
This paper presents several results on images of various configurations of conics. We extract information about the plane from single and multiple views of known and unknown conics, based on planar homography and conic correspondences. We show that a single conic section cannot provide sufficient information. Metric rectification of the plane can be performed from a single view if two conics ca...
متن کاملSingle Axis Geometry by Fitting Conics
In this paper, we describe a new approach for recovering 3D geometry from an uncalibrated image sequence of a single axis (turntable) motion. Unlike previous methods, the computation of multiple views encoded by the fundamental matrix or trifocal tensor is not required. Instead, the new approach is based on fitting a conic locus to corresponding image points over multiple views. It is then show...
